#elvisenergyexperiment: Veganuary
In 2020, we’re exploring our energy. How it affects us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We’ve hooked up with a series of experts who will set an experiment every month to help us discover a new way of managing our energy.
We're kicking the year off by exploring the power of a plant based diet, by going Vegan for the month. Inspired by watching the awesome Game Changer documentary we decided that we wanted find out for ourselves what impact a plant-based diet would have on our energy, and how it would affect us not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.
The benefits to a plant based lifestyle are just HUGE.... It's good for us as humans, it's great for the animals we share the plant with, and it has a pretty awesome impact on the planet itself. So all round its one worth getting into a bit more. A vegan diet can be one of the healthiest ways to live. Plant-based diets contain plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds.
Because vegan diets often rely heavily on these healthy staples, they tend to be higher in vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, and fibre. Healthy vegan diets are abundant with vitamins B1, C, and E, folic acid, magnesium, and iron while also being low in cholesterol and saturated fats. This stuff isn't just good for our bodies, it can actually help to reduce risk of mortality. For some it's a much more emotionally driven decision that's about the standards you hold yourself accountable to, and what guides you as you decide what is right and what is wrong in terms of what we should eat. Our expert partners for January are the brilliant Veganuary.
Veganuary is a non-profit organisation that encourages people to try vegan for January and beyond. During their 2019 campaign, more than a quarter of a million people took their pledge to try a vegan diet. You can sign-up to join us on this challenge for free at www.veganuary.com/register.
