#ElvisEnergyExperiment: Talk It Out
With Mental Health Awareness Week (15-21 May) fast approaching, we thought it would be a great fit to join forces with our sister company Talk It Out for this month’s Elvis Energy Experiment. This year’s theme is anxiety, and so we’ll be delving deep into the Talk It Out app and giving their ‘The Friday Download’ a go.
It’s a simple, fun challenge that’s proven to help free you from the baggage of your busy week so you can skip into the weekend with a smile on your face!
With 90% of us saying we are more productive at work, yet 50% saying we're also feeling burned out – it’s no surprise that our mental health is suffering.
Fundamentally, our lives have developed in a way that is making our minds unwell. As humans we’re simply not designed for the frenetic pace of today’s world. Where being busy is valued above all else.
We never switch off:
- Not on weekends. Not on holidays.
- We are over stimulated and therefore over stressed.
- We are not designed for this, and we are suffering.
But the power to change this is in our hands…
When we Talk It Out at the end of each week, we get the chance to listen to our subconscious, and understand why we’ve been feeling the way we do. We get to understand what worked, what didn’t and what we need to focus on next week. We unpack our subconscious and decompress it.
And when we decompress, we destress.
To join us on this experiment simply download the Talk It Out app for free and take part in The Friday Download. You’ll find it on the homepage of the app, under challenges:
How to get involved:
- Download the TalkIt Out app.
- Find the Friday Download and click ‘start challenge’.
- Then every Friday after lunch, go outside, go for a walk and talk to the app (you’ll get a reminder from the app).
This short video explains what you need to do each Friday, so have a watch, download the app and get prepped for your first Talk It Out session.
Talk It Out have tested The Friday Download and got some amazing results... Reflection and learning went up by 35%, switching off at the weekend increased by 28%, and most importantly given the theme of this month's MHAW, peoples anxiety dropped by 37%.
So, with that in mind, download the app, get out in nature and start to Talk It Out today!
Final reflection:
Over the four weeks of the experiment don’t forget to note any improvements in your mood and energy – it's a game changer once you make it a habit to download on a Friday!
