In 2019, we’re exploring energy. How it affects us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We’ve hooked up with a series of experts who will set an experiment every month to help us discover a new way of managing our energy.
In September we’re partnering with One Year No Beer (OYNB) to explore a life without alcohol and looking at how taking a break from the booze impacts our energy. They’re not only an awesome bunch of folk, but they really understand the phycology behind how to take a break from alcohol and make it stick.
WeeK 4 is all about creating reminders of the willpower we have and need to keep-up. We've all been there, you start out with great intentions, only to crumble when faced with your willpower challenge. Don’t worry this happens to us all and the scientists call this bounded rationality. We have everything under control until exposed to the real threat.
If you find yourself making a shocking decision and the soft drink turns into a beer, remember these words:YOU DON'T HAVE TO DRINK IT JUST BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT IT!
Take a deep breath put the beer to one side, smile and reorder what you really want.

1) But my Hols Are coming… What if I just drink just on holiday and nowhere else does that count? Errrr no.There will always a big events to test your resolve. But very often, as you will discover, your newfound freedom from the booze will only make these days even better.
Take a holiday for example, this is a classic time to overindulge. How many have been awash with hangovers and regret. It's time to try something new. Just imagine how great you’ll feel when you get through the holiday alcohol free. When you arrive back you will actually feel refreshed rather than in need of another holiday or get over the one you were just on.To help make the transition a little smoother plan ahead and remind yourself "why' you are doing this in the first place.
