In 2019, we’re exploring our energy. How it affects us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We’ve hooked up with a series of experts who will set an experiment every month to help us discover a new way of managing our energy.
For September we've been working with the awesome One Year No Beer and their co-founder, the wonderful Andy Ramage who set a brilliant challenge for us to follow their 28 day programme to get off the booze. Check out our earlier blogs for more on the challenges they set for us.
Going into this experiment, we were all very aware of just how good for you it is to take a break from the booze, and so whilst we had some expectations around the impact it would deliver on our energy, none of us had ever taken on a break from the booze with such a well supported programme. that is focused on breaking the habits around drinking so it was super exciting from the off...
One of the biggest learnings for us was that whilst we weren't looking to stop drinking FOREVER, what we the experiment did give us is the chance to take a step back and get a healthy perspective on our relationship with alcohol. We really got to learn about what the triggers are that have us reaching for that glass of wine, and how we can break the bad habits and replace them with positive ones that become part of who we are...

One of the other big learnings for us was that whenever we're faced with a challenge, there's a sense of energy and excitement that comes from both taking part, and completing that challenge. Even if its something as simple as ticking off the days. That sense of achievement creates a positive feeling for us.
But once it's complete there's a tiny voice on the back of our heads saying "what now?". And if we don't listen to that voice, it's super easy to slip back into the old way of behaving and before you know it all that good work has gone.
